Hello and Happy New Year! 2018 was a big year for us here at Last Podcats. We finally launched our new website, and 2 new podcasts, It’s a Gundam, which we’ve been working on for a very long time and are very happy to finally have out, and Jump Start Weekly, which was a spur of the moment thing that turned out pretty well. There are going to be a couple of changes in 2019, which I’d like to quickly go over.
Last Time on Video Games
We released 38 episodes of LTOVG in 2018, which means we missed 14 weeks. While missed episodes are nothing new to us, it always hurts me to look at the end of the year and see so many missed. However, as our lives grow busier with work, new Podcasts and other opportunities it gets harder and harder to meet a weekly deadline. Therefore, for 2019 we will be releasing LTOVG every other week rather than weekly. This will help us make sure episodes come out on time, as well as give us more time with each of the games we play. Hopefully, this will result in slightly larger, more thoughtful episodes, even if they are less frequent. We’d very much like feedback on the change, as depending on how it goes, we might shift back up to weekly in 2020.
It’s a Gundam!
For me, recording It’s a Gundam! is the best part of any week we manage to do so. We’ve been working on this project for a very long time, so actually launching it was scary, but the launch went better than I could have possibly hoped. Sadly, since launching the podcast releases have been less regular than I’d like, especially with the huge lead time we have on recording the project. In fact, we’re so far ahead that if all goes well, we’ll be recording our episode on the final episode of Gundam SEED this week. Therefore, I want to commit to releasing a minimum of 50 episodes of It’s a Gundam! in 2019. I think we can do it, and the fans of the show deserve it.
Jump Start Weekly
Does anyone listen to Jump Start Weekly? Honestly, I don’t care, recording it is a blast and Kevin is a great co-host, and an even better editor. Jump Start Weekly was an idea I had one morning at work that went from idea to podcast incredibly quickly. If you listen to our other shows, I’d very much appreciate if you checked it out. Shonen Jump is going through some changes that make it free to read the most recent chapters, and we’re not entirely sure how to change the format of the show to reflect that, so any feedback would be very much appreciated!
Once more, I’d like to wish everyone who read this a Happy New Year, and thank you for listening to our dumb podcast(s). Nothing makes me happier than seeing new comments on the website, or new face in our Discord channel (which you can find by clicking right here) or seeing a review on Itunes. Here’s hoping that 2019 is as good a year for us as 2018 was, even if we don’t have plans to launch any new podcasts.
