When we last left out heroes, everything seemed to be going fine for Orb in their war effort. Their new Mobile Suits were awesome, their Hero Units had way more XP than the enemies, and they even got help from an unlikely ally. Probably best for everyone involved if they just abandon their nation right?
Kira returns, people are shocked, and Athrun starts to make up his mind! Also, we get a glimpse into the PLANTs’ seed underbelly(ies?) and their secret underlord: Lacus "Shank You With My Silly Collar” Clyne. Yet another mobile suit gets stolen! Now that’s what I call Justice.
Secret Agent Mu-man returns with dire information for the Archangel, just late enough to be useless! The crew, meanwhile, is preparing to take its collective last breath. But what’s this? A bird? A plane? A multi-billion dollar government secret project? That’s right, it’s Kira! All your (white) base are belong to him, as he declares himself a sovereign nation because nukes.
In the aftermath of last episode’s epic battle, everyone’s dealing with the shock and loss. Also Kuzzey’s there. But not everything’s going poorly! New romances are blooming, Mu gets to practice being the impulsive one, and death appears to be only a minor inconvenience!
I don’t have much to say about this one. Both the episode of the show and our episode about it are super dense this time around, and it gets really real! Also, there are some gorgeous fights, regardless of which version you’re watching. Get it!
Teased endlessly by the opening, we finally get some screen time with Athrun and Cagalli interacting! Will the two angst-struck teens be able to survive an entire day alone together? Kira and the Archangel’s crew are determined to find Cagalli, despite Natarl’s strategic objections, and Yzak is getting ready for a command of his own… They grow up so fast.
